starseerdrgn: a white dragon with azure crystal horns and snout scales (Default)

So... I just got my iMac.

This thing is absolutely beautiful. I'm installing OS X Snow Leopard (OS X Snep, as some furries would call it) on it right now, but it supports up to Sierra from the look of it. You can also see the memory I've installed into it in the photo: 2x4GB of PC3-12800, giving the thing 8 GB of memory. 160GB HDD and a 2GHz Core2Duo on top of that, and I'm rather happy.

Now, quick mention here: I'm installing Snow Leopard because it's what I have install media for. It came with Sierra installed, but I wiped the drive of that because, while the seller seems trustworthy, it's an old school computer. No telling what might've lingered without a zeroed hard drive.

Now, before I get into some things, let me just say that thing thing is beautiful. It makes the designer in me squee almost as much as the iMac G3 I have. I don't care about thinness or anything like that. I don't care about something being without a bezel—I actually prefer having a bezel to show off the size of the screen. But the aluminum case looks really nice on my desk, and I just really like the overall design of the ports and such. And having the ability to string USB cables and such through the stand is a massive boon that I didn't really get with my previous setup.

So far, it's snappy, but we'll see how it is after a few days. Regardless, I'm so happy I went with this instead of the PC upgrade path.
