Tonight, I almost did something stupid. I almost let my frustration get to me.

I haven't had a great time these last few months, and one of my frustrations has been with computer problems. Just little things that keep happening, on top of everything else (like my tooth problems). But tonight, I felt like I almost went into the realm of stupidity.

See, MacOS 10.6.8 only runs up to SeaMonkey 2.40, or Firefox 45.9, as far as "modern" web browsers go. Discord doesn't work, YouTube only kinda works, Twitter barely works. My solution: Parallels VM, using a BootCamp install of Windows 7. Run Firefox in that for modern web stuff, and leave MacOS for my creative stuff, when I really just want to be offline for the most part.

Then, just a bit ago, I started to get frustrated. Firefox runs like crap in the VM, with everything running bad enough to make me cringe. Kubuntu 19.10 ran like crap on the metal as well. It was enough to make me consider hopping back to the Dell XPS 410.

However, I stopped, let myself calm down, and thought about it for a moment.

My Mac Pro is my most powerful desktop system, GPU aside. Two dual-core Xeons at 2.66 GHz, 32GB of DDR2 ECC FB-DIMMs, 4 HDD bays, and currently housing a Radeon HD 5770 (1GB GDDR4). It's a very beefy system for my needs, but I'd gotten it for less than $200 during a time where I needed a GPU for the Dell tower.

It runs Windows 7 natively quite well, just the VM doesn't handle all that great. And while it doesn't handle Kubuntu well, I can just set up a VM with Gentoo or something terminal-oriented, cause I don't really need Linux for anything GUI-based. Jut basic programming things like Python and Lua.

On top of that, it can run Discord in the VM, it's just janky. But, I was wanting something I could just work in, without the modern web distractions that I normally drag into my day. It actually works out in my favor that way.

So yeah... I really needed to stop and think, rather than letting my frustrations play out.
