Something that has become a theme of mine is the idea of finally going back and looking at who I am, and shedding barriers that I had put up for my own sake. As of late, I have started to shed them for three aspects of something I had wanted as part of my identity. Why have I not done this sooner since leaving my parents? Well, it takes time to peel away barriers, and stress does not help in that regard.

First of all: butterflies. Something I have adored since I was a human child is the beauty of butterflies. Aside from flowers, butterflies are the other driving force behind my love of colourful aesthetics. I adore their patterns, and especially their grace in the air. I have always desired to have a butterfly-and-flower motif on many things, but it is difficult due to being born male.

In fact, one object I have wanted to use for my personal fashion is a ponytail with a butterfly ribbon tie: a bow with large upper loops and small lower loops. It is a simple addition, but one I have yet to be able to add due to how gender normality is perceived among humans in the United States.

On the subject of normality, royalty and nobility is another issue I contend with. As the daughter of Naisura, Legecian deity of pleasure and happiness, I am technically nobility on my home world. However, that does not translate to my human side, and it is difficult to explain Legecian society to non-Legecians. Human and Legecian cultures are so different that I have little to work with in that regard. However, I will try to explain this aspect of nobility to the best of my ability.

There are four classes of citizens on Legecia: Common Class, Leader Class, Slave Class, and Deity Class.

Common Class citizens are commoners, as they would be called in English. They are general citizens who are not elected or employed by the government, are not slaves, and are not deities. They technically have the most freedom, but are also the most plentiful on the planet. They also have the final say in regards to laws, and are even given a paid holiday (so to speak) every thirty days so that they can take part in the semi-mandatory voting system.

Leader Class citizens are those who are elected or employed as members of the government. This includes armed forces leaders (commissioned officers and higher, in human terms), emergency responders, and the like. They cannot vote in most situations, but they hold the most responsibility of all of the classes, and are given the most perks. Those who are found to abuse their power are stripped of it, and often their right to vote, until they can prove that they will not abuse their rights.

Slave Class is…a large subject. In short, they are willing members of society who pledge their lives to servitude, and in return are given great government protection, free board and necessities while traveling, and excellent healthcare. However, they cannot vote, cannot own anything, and often are stripped of even a name. Thus the use of the XLSC, or Cross-referenced Legecian Slave Class ID, a base 16 numerical identifier, of which the individual is often referred to by either the last 3 or 6 digits.

Deity Class consists of the deities and their families, and are given the most wealth: worshippers that act more like subjects than simple prayer makers; temples that are much closer to castles or fortresses than traditional Earth temples; free access to travel, board, and necessities; one-on-one advanced educations; and often even expedited access to custom items from crafters. However, they are also tasked with keeping people—and the world itself—protected. Almost more so than the armed forces.

So, why did I explain this first? One thing I would not mind is being referred to as royalty: Your highness, your majesty, and so on. This would mostly be regulated to home life and such…

However, considering that I currently live in America, where anything regarding royalty “better be fantasy, else you’ll get a talkin’ to ‘bou't what ‘murica is!”, I would likely fear for my life if I attempted anything regarding this in public. As one other Legecian once said of the American public: “A single person can be saintly. A few people can be kind. After that, you have either a lynch mob, a concert, or a protest.”

Those are my thoughts for now, though.
